Since 2024, we have been preparing our second base in Kyoto by slowly renovating a nearly 100-year-old traditional machiya house—in honour of, and with deep appreciation for, the craftsmanship and materials shaped by centuries of Japanese wisdom, such as washi paper, yakisugi woodwork, and shikkui plaster walls.

As we did for our Berlin boutique over a decade ago, we will open gently in early spring 2026—without everything being perfectly finished—and operate this space on an irregular schedule. In Japanese, we describe this way of working as “身の丈にあった,” which literally means to cut your coat according to your cloth—operating without pressure, not with the aim of looking bigger or following trends, but by remaining independent and choosing what feels natural and truly fits who we are—an authenticity that comes from deep within us.

We named this space 12047 - the postcode of our starting point on Friedelstrasse 11 in Berlin. Just as the early-blooming Ume (Prunus mume) season begins to delight locals in Kyoto, our new journey starts. We look forward to welcoming you here and weaving a new chapter together with you.
